A cultural disconnect, with all due respect. There is a general lack of awareness when it comes to cultural sensitivities. This is also specifically correlated to a lack of diversity in corporate environments. We need to be present.

Fear of retaliation when advocating for appropriate cultural content, which circles back to the lack of authoritative minority representation – which can be intimidating in a culturally homogenous environment.
Shift
As a result of these discoveries, we extended our branch to reach inside the world of hiring practices, and advancement opportunity processes – specifically with Black professionals in mind.

Legitimizing Diversity
Legitimate diversity is represented across a business’s hierarchy. Companies that take advantage of tax breaks, via affirmative action, do so with the benefit of being labeled as diverse employment entities. But, when diversity is heavily represented at the lowest tier of a company’s organizational structure without consideration to representation at its highest tiers, a structural, and cultural imbalance is the end result.
